|All our visitor flights are flown by British Gliding Association qualified gliding instructors in dual control gliders which are well maintained and subject to regular inspections. The ‘student’ usually sits in the front seat, where the view is better and where you would have to sit if you decided to learn to fly a glider to solo standard. However, we’re quite happy to let you choose either seat for your first flight.|
If you want to arrange a session as a gift for someone else, we sell vouchers for the aerotow, winch and short courses. To purchase a voucher please go to our online shop.
Please note there are no more slots available for flying this year. Your voucher will be allocated for next season which will start on Saturday March 31st 2018.
A Gift Voucher buys a hands-on instructional flight in a two-seater glider with dual controls and membership of the Club for 3 months from the date of the first flight.
We offer 2 types of Gift Voucher:
Aerotow launch trial flight behind a light aircraft to over 2000′ for a flight lasting about 20 minutes. This costs £90
Winch launch trial flight to about 1000′ for a flight lasting about 5 minutes. This costs £50
Both of these voucher also include 3 months membership of the club giving the recipient the ability to fly at the following rates which are:
Aerotow launch £50 (up to 30 minutes flying time)
Winch launch £30 (up to 10 minutes flying time)
Where the club is unable to carry out aerotow launches on any particular date then the voucher holder will be offered the alternative of winch launch (in this case a 2nd flight will be offered where the 1st flight is less than 10 minutes duration)
The voucher is valid for twelve months.
The flight will last anything up to about 30 minutes depending on weather conditions on the day.
Subsequent flights may be taken on the day or during the 3 months membership. These will be charged at rates shown above and are payable on the day.
An information pack (the Club, gliding, how to find us etc.) is sent with the Gift Voucher.
Virtually anyone who is able to learn to drive a car can learn to fly a glider. Gliders are limited in the height and weight of people they can carry – no more than 1.95m (6ft 5in) and 102kg (16 stones).
The Club reserve the right not to fly anyone outside these limits.
If it is for a birthday or special occasion please let us know the date and we will issue the voucher from that date.
The prices for visitor flights whether by voucher or paid directly are as follows:
||£40 (over 18)
£30 (under 18)

Booking your flights
Individual visitor flights normally take place at weekends and we limit them to four per day. These must be pre-booked so that we can arrange for a British Gliding Association Instructor to be available to give you a short introduction to gliding including a safety briefing, before taking you for your flight(s). To make an individual flight booking, please send an e-mail stating your request and giving contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you want to arrange an evening group session in the summer months, please get in touch with Malcolm Taylor by e-mail to email@example.com. For further details please download our latest Group Gliding brochure.
